Sittig, Carolyn Aguillard  
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic church for Carolyn Aguillard Sittig, 79, who died at her residence in Crowley. Fr. Mark Miley and Fr. Henry Broussard will concelebrate the Mass. The family request visitation be observed on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. The burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice, LA. Carolyn was born January 29, 1935 in Eunice, LA. She was a longtime member of Saint Michael Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Rosary Guild. She enjoyed her weekly card games and she was an avid tennis player. She enjoyed her flowers and tending to them with her husband. She loved to cook and was deeply devoted to her family. She was happiest when spending time at family gatherings. Carolyn had an unwavering faith in God, which she gracefully shared with those who loved her most. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee Sittig; her daughter Vivian Colvill and her husband Chip of Houston, TX; two sons Greg Sittig and his wife Marcey of Salt Lake City, UT and Kevin Sittig and his wife Terri of Shreveport, LA; 1 brother Charles Aguillard of Eunice, LA; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Skinner, Freddie  
A resident of Donaldsonville and a retired security guard, he died on Monday, November 24, 2014. He was 78 and a U S Navy veteran. Smith, Launa Hoskins  
On Saturday, November 22, 2014, Launa left the embrace of her loving family and entered the presence of our Lord. She leaves behind her loving husband, Harry J. Smith, and her precious daughter, Mendy A. Smith. Also survived by her brother, James R. Hoskins, Sr. (Pam) of Hurley, MS; and her sister, Glenda H. Netterville (Arthur Reid) of Ponchatoula, LA. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Robyn G. Smith; and her parents, S. T. Hoskins and Clara (Ratcliff) Hoskins. Born January 7,1947, a resident of Baton Rouge and originally from McComb, MS; Launa passed away at the Carpenter House. She was retired from the East Baton Rouge School Board and always advocated for developmentally challenged children. An unselfish loving wife and mother, Launa was a long time and active member of Lanier Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Lanier Baptist Church, Tuesday, November 25, from 5-8pm; and again Wednesday, November 26, from 9am until the funeral service at 10:00am with Rev. Mike Ferguson officiating. Interment on Wednesday, November 26 at 1pm at Hollywood Cemetary, McComb, Miss. Launa will be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and her church family.

Stanley, Benny R.  
Benny R. Stanley, a resident of St. Amant, LA, passed away on November 25, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 22, 1946, in Akron, OH. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, from 3 pm to 9 pm. He graduated from St. Amant High School and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps for 3 years and was awarded the Purple Heart. From the age of 13, Benny spent his time as a musician and entertained people of all ages. He loved making people happy. In 1994, he was awarded the People's Choice Award by the Music Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Louisiana Purple Heart Association. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bourque Stanley; his son, Casey Laiche and fiancé, Tally Barnett; his daughter, Christie O'dell and husband, Odie; sister, Karie Rhodes and husband, Shane. He is also survived by his grandchildren¸Casey Laiche, Jr. (C.J.), Miranda Laiche, Blaire O'dell, Brady O'dell, Jamon Cornett and Abbie Nixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toni and Russell Whelchel and stepfather, Windom Berteau. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve and to the staff at Amedisys and to his hospice nurse, Jay, who became a good friend to Benny. Sylvest, Ruth Hopper  
A caring and devoted wife, mother, friend, and lifelong educator, she died peacefully at The Butterfly Wing of Baton Rouge on November 24, 2014, at the age of 89. Born on June 27, 1925, in Florence, AL, she moved to Central when her father accepted the pastorate at Zoar Baptist Church. Upon graduation as salutatorian of her Central High School class, she entered LSU. Ruth earned BS and MS degrees in Home Economics Education from LSU. She taught Home Economics in EBR Parish public schools and Vocational Home Economics Education on the faculty of the LSU College of Agriculture. She was a devoted Tiger football fan and attended her last football game in mid-October. She was an active member of University Baptist Church as well as many professional and philanthropic organizations. After retirement, she devoted time and effort to a variety of volunteer organizations. Visiting at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge, on Wednesday Nov. 26th from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Mike Massar and Rev. Dr. George Haile. A graveside service will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by two children, Anne E. Sylvest and Robert T. Sylvest and daughter-in-law, Danielle Wyss and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Q. Sylvest, her infant son James Phillip Sylvest, her parents the Rev. and Mrs. John Ora Hopper, and brother Thomas Earl Hopper. She is survived by brothers William Oren, John David, Daniel Truett and Nathan Carey Hopper, sister-in-law Irene Barrios Sylvest, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her warmth, gentleness, kindness and selfless spirit, and her enduring love and devotion to the Lord and to her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Crowley for Mary Dischler Simon, 86, who died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at 6:15 p.m. surrounded by her loving family. Fr. Martin Nelson will officiate for the service. The family requests visiting hours Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. A rosary will be recited Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Simon is survived by four daughters, Sharon S. Nelson and her husband Fr. Martin Nelson of Beaumont, TX, Jacqueline S. Vondenstein and her husband Steven of Scott, Rhonda S. Schwartzenburg and her husband Elridge of Opelousas, Mary S. Briggs of Youngsville; two sisters, Loraine D. Rine of Lake Charles, Johanna D. Dupre of Lafayette; one brother, Richard Dischler of Crowley; nine grandchildren, Sarah Nelson, Virginia Nelson Hunt and her husband Brian, Tara V. Cramer and her husband Marty, Nicholas P. Vondenstein and his wife Erin, Blaire S. Emonet and husband Eric, Lindsey Schwartzenburg, Trey Schwartzenburg, Joshua Briggs and his wife Stephanie, Amber B. Harang and her husband Scott, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmo Simon; her parents, Joseph and Louise Fontenot Dischler. Michael Edwin Still Jr. age 29 died on Thursday November 20, 2014, at his home in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Michael is survived by his daughter Isabella Still, Mother Melody Teague and Step Father Tommy Teague, Father Michael Still Sr. and Step Mother Tara Still, Sister Amy Still Porche (Jeremy Sr.), Sister Kaitlyn Still, and Brother Scott Smith, Step Sisters: D'Shae Mino (Steve), Jennifer Clary (Robert) Step Brothers: Jacob Givens (Lee), Joshua Teague (Kristie), and Matthew Teague (Sarah), Niece Ashton Porche, and Nephew Jeremy Porche Jr. His grandparents precede him in death: Harold and Martha Still, and Violet Fisher. Michael was born on May 14, 1985 in Metairie, Louisiana, to parents Michael Edwin Still Sr. and Melody Still Teague. He enjoyed Fishing, Hunting, Camping and being with friends and family. A funeral is scheduled for November 25, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael's life. Suhrke, Kenneth E.  
Ken Suhrke passed away peacefully on November 20, 2014, at the age of 72. Ken was a native of Sheboygan, WI, and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, where he obtained a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering. He then went on to work as a nuclear engineer for many years, during which time he worked in both Europe and throughout the United States before finally settling in Baton Rouge. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Lillian Suhrke, also of Sheboygan, WI. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Suzanne Suhrke; as well as siblings Roger Suhrke and Susan Potter of Sheboygan, WI, and Ruth Anne Flowers of Maple Glen, PA; and daughter, Kara Simpson of Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held on November 24, 2014, at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA, at 6:00 pm with a memorial to follow at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Ken's wish was that donations be made in his remembrance to The Sister Dulce Foundation, 17560 George O'Neal Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70817, (225) 752-8480.
