A native of White Castle and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 29, 1919. Funeral arrangements will be at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Baton Rouge on Thursday, November. 15, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in White Castle. Bessie valued her faith in God and time with family. She also enjoyed music, Italian cookies, and LSU football. Survived by sister, Camille L. Sturtevant; nieces and nephews, Virginia Ann Simmers, Joe Maggio, Jr. and wife Joyce, Mary Beth Maggio, Priscilla Olivia and husband Jim, John R. Latino Jr., Robert Sturtevant and wife Satomi, Peter Sturtevant and wife Andrea, Carolyn Bonadona and husband CJ, Marietta O'Dwyer and husband George; and many loved ones including great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father, Peter Latino; mother, Frances Chairamonte Latino; brothers, John R. Latino and Joseph B. Latino; sisters, Antonia L. Maggio and Josephine Latino. She retired from Louisiana School for the Visually-Impaired as Business Administrator after 36 years of service and was an avid member of the Italian American Association and Our Lady of Mercy Church.
