Carl James Bakay

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at a 2:00 PM Memorial Service in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church for Carl James Bakay, age 69, who died on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at his residence in Lafayette. The Very Reverend John Bedingfield, Rector of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will officiate the memorial services. Survivors include his beloved wife, Sharon Bakay of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Jennifer Bakay of Houston, Tx; one son, James Matthew Bakay and his wife, Jennifer Adkins Bakay of Titusville, FL; and one grandson, Troy Len Adkins. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl James Bakay; and his mother, Apolonia Pauline Panek Bakay. Carl James Bakay was born on August 19, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Hamilton High School and Renaselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Bakay joined the military and was a member of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He worked in the oilfield as a Petroleum Engineer for many years before his retirement from Scientific Drilling International. Mr. Bakay was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, The Sierra Club, and was Membership Chairperson of The National Free Flight Society. He was also a member of the Bayou Teche Water Sentinels and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Mr. Bakay was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
