Charles E. Gary

Charles passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at his nieces' home at the age of 83. He retired from DOTD after 30 plus years of employment, and was a resident and native of Plaquemine, La. Visiting will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, celebrated by Father Greg Daigle. Interment will be at Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by sister in law, Catherine Gary; brother in law, Stonewall Serrett; numerous nieces, nephews, great, great great and great great great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Lawrence Gary; mother, Neila Landry Monaco and husband Albert O. Monaco; sisters, Margaret G. Leon Bourgoyne and Mary Gladys Serrett; brothers, Earl L., John H., Sr., and Ronald L. Gary. He served in the National Guard for 12 years; he loved to dance and received many certificates and trophies. When he retired he loved to travel with his sister and best friend Margaret. He was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Joseph Hospice and especially Nurse Paulette and Aide Cynthia.
