Charlotte Sheehan Gautreau, native of Boston, Massachusetts and resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, March 28th at Heritage Manor Baton Rouge after a long battle with Alzheimer's Dementia and Parkinson's disease. She was 84 years of age, born April 5, 1928. Charlotte graduated from Fr. Fitton Catholic High School in East Boston. After moving from Boston to Washington, D. C., where she was employed with the Bureau of Naval Personnel, she met her husband Clint while he was on leave, United States Navy. Charlotte and Clint were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Star of the Sea Parish, in East Boston Massachusetts on July 27,1947. She worked for the federal and state governments and raised her children in both Boston and Gonzales. Charlotte cherished her Catholic faith and spent her life devoted to her family. She insured her children were taught life lessons at every opportunity. She maintained her Boston Irish pride and her Boston accent until she left this world. She enjoyed a good card game, especially canasta. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clinton Gautreau; four sons, Douglas Gautreau, Nathan Gautreau and wife Linda; Joseph Gautreau and wife Lori, Paul Gautreau; two daughters, Nancy Gautreau, Mary Jane Gautreau Karabin and husband Drew of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Derek Gautreau and wife Tammy, Nathan Gautreau, Nicholas Karabin, Peyton Gautreau, Zachary Gautreau; five great-grandchildren, Morgan Gautreau, Myles Gautreau, Madeline Gautreau, Faith Gautreau and Emma Gautreau; three step-grandchildren, Shannon Sing and wife Jennifer, Amy Lejeune and husband Larry, Casey Sing and wife Paula along with eight step-great grandchildren; five siblings, Mary Theresa Granara of Chelsea, Massachusetts, Helen Lepage of Winthrop, Massachusetts, Eileen and Joe Coppola of Visalia, California, Joan Constantino of Chelsea, Massachusetts and John Leo Sheehan, Jr. of Saugus, Massachusetts, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of relatives. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Charles Gautreau, her father, John Leo Sheehan, Sr. and mother, Mary Whalen Sheehan of Everett, Massachusetts. Visitation will be observed at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales Wednesday, April 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will follow, celebrated by Fr. Alec Sheldon. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Nathan Paul Gautreau, Joe Gautreau, Paul Gautreau, Derek Gautreau, Nathan David Gautreau and Peyton Gautreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Gautreau, Nicholas Karabin, Zachary Gautreau and Myles Gautreau. The family expresses tremendous gratitude to the staff at Heritage Manor Baton Rouge nursing home for the exceptional care and concern given to Charlotte.
