Danie Miller Singleton

"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us." Eph. 5:1-2. Danie (Elizabeth Jayne) Miller Singleton went Home to God on Nov. 20 at her home, after a long battle with cancer, always upbeat and fond of saying, "I am so blessed." Age 89, she was a native of Madison County, Miss., and moved to Baton Rouge at age 9 with her family. Danie was a graduate of University High School and attended LSU, where she belonged to Kappa Delta Sorority. She was widely loved in the Hundred Oaks Community and touched many lives, the epitome of the old-time Southern Belle. She received numerous community honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award on Nov. 1 from the Woman's Club, She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, its president twice and a member of the River Road Ramblers. She was a lifetime, active member of St. James Episcopal Church; John James Audubon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the East-West Club; and The Study Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Singleton, and her parents, Angie Cheek and John Cameron Miller; a sister, Angie Miller Denny; brothers John Cameron Miller Jr. and Kenner Ozias Miller. Survivors included a beloved sister-in-law Patsy Miller; beloved nieces and their spouses: Angela and Steve Fox; Linda and Larry Chamblis; Trina and David Collins, Danie and Thomas Schwab; also beloved nephews, Jamie Denny, Kenner Miller Jr., John and Mitzi Miller, Dan and Patty Miller, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation is set from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27, with the service at noon, at St. James Episcopal Church, officiant the Rev. Father Mark Holland. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
