Our dearly beloved mother "Dorisa", affectionately known to the family as "Momsie", Doris Boza Saxton, age 87, was called home April 23, 2013. She had resided at Bethany MHS Health Care Center in Lafayette since 2007. She was bright, articulate, and sparkly in a crowd, always faithfully devoted to God and her family. Born in Havana, Cuba to Rudolph and Andrea Boza, she moved to Key West, FL at 12 years old later graduating from Key West High as a true "Conch". After marrying Lee Andrew Saxton of Yazoo City, MS, they moved to Baton Rouge where he attended and graduated from LSU in Petroleum Engineering. Doris has always been fondly remembered wherever her life adventures took her family… Venice and Lafayette, LA-Corpus Christi, TX-Durango, CO-Lagos, Nigeria Africa ~ eventually returning to Louisiana in 1966. She is survived by 3 children; Andrea, Norman and Rudy Saxton; 4 grandchildren, Chris, Matt, Zack and Alejandra Saxton; and 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Avah Marie and Aubrey Saxton. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Father Thomas Finely will honor her memory with a 1:30 p.m. funeral mass in the Chapel at Bethany MHS Health Care Center on Friday, May 3, 2013. She will be buried alongside her husband at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. Visiting hours will be observed from 11:00 a.m. Friday until time of service. Her family would like to thank ALL the staff and sisters in residence for their loving heartfelt care and spiritual companionship shared in daily living.
