Gary Ray "Gaysie" Gurvin Sr.

A letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, he passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 1, 2012, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 50, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church on Friday, Dec.7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at St. Mary Baptist Church, 1252 N. Acadian Thruway Church East, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m., conducted by Bishop Gregory Cooper Sr. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife and brown-eyed girl, Mrs. Linda Russell Gurvin; daughters, Lankeia Z. Gurvin, Trenisha S. Gurvin and Santana D. Russell; sons, Gary R. Gurvin Jr., Rondell M. Gurvin, Royce D. Buford Jr. and Randy D. Bluford; sisteers, Frankie Perry, Beatrice Lathers, Linda Vaughn, Dardrell Wheeler, Brenda Gurvin and Debbie Harris; brothers, Alfred Smith Jr. and Curtis Gurvin; godchildren, Trinity and Terrell Robertson Jr., Kayla Bryant and Carlicia Moore; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Smith Sr. and Elva Gurvin Perry; maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, sisters, Claudia Magee and Janice Gurvin; brother, Roscoe Perry Jr.; and grandchildren, Rihanna Gurvin and Bernard Gurvin. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1980, Beacon University in 2009, and Luther Rice Seminary in 2011.
