Gene Phillip McDonald

Gene Phillip McDonald, 85 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Live Oak Village of Hammond. Gene was born on Friday, July 13, 1928, in Fordland, MO. He was a retired educator from S.L.U. and Trafton, he also taught in the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools. Gene was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Surviving are wife of 58 years, Betty Lummus McDonald, daughter, Susan Lynette Johnson, son & daughter-in-law, Daniel G. McDonald and Kaye McDonald, brother, Joe McDonald, sister, Ruth Bookout, grandchildren, John Robert "B.J." Peterman III, Brandon Phillip Peterman, Sean Christopher Johnson and Tamesia Warren, great-grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Gracie and Annabelle Peterman. He is preceded in death by parents, William McDonald and Anna Burkes McDonald, brothers, Henry, Glenn and LeRoy McDonald, sisters, Pearl Stinnett, Dorothy Lee, Edna Appleby and Ila Frazier. Friends will be received Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Hammond and on Saturday from 9:30a.m. until services. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Hammond, Saturday, at 10:30 am, with Rev. Tom Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
