Harry Benjamin "Pops" Abbott Jr.

Native of New Orleans, La. and resident of Baton Rouge, La. passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the age of 69. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and will resume on Friday, March 8 from 12 noon until funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be his brothers, John, Roger, Richard, Warren and Brian Abbott. Honorary pallbearer is David Bartee. Harry was retired from Exxon after 33 years of service as a 1st Line Supervisor. He served over 10 years as a Truck Lt. for St. George Volunteer Fire Department and was also a certified fireman on his beloved Southern Pacific 745 since 2005. He was also a member of the Steam Train Association 2005-SP745. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia "Patti" Abbott; one daughter, Bonnie Abbott Caldwell; one son, Brent Benjamin Abbott; three grandchildren, Neill Efferson Caldwell, Nicholas Tanner Caldwell, and Benjamin Joseph Crehan; five brothers and their spouses, Johnny and Kathy Abbott of Dallas, Texas, Roger and Sallie Abbott of Baton Rouge, La., Richard and Joan Abbott of Baton Rouge, La., Warren Abbott of Katy, Texas, and Brian and Jackie Abbott of Walker, La. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Benjamin, Sr. and Loie Harris Abbott. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baton Rouge .
