James Brock

Jay was a sales supervisor with Richard's Cajun Foods, a native of Dallas, Texas and a resident of Baton Rouge. He died suddenly at 6:00pm Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at the Baton Rouge General-Mid City. He was 55. Jay is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 20 years: Sherry Lee Brock; father: Lloyd Wayne Taylor of Dallas, Texas; mother: Delia "Dee" Brock of Baton Rouge; daughter: Jennifer Brock Moore & husband Scott; son: Jeremy Brock; brothers: Michael Taylor of Denham Springs, and Kenneth Taylor of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren: Jadon and Katherine and Kace. Jay was a U.S. Navy veteran. While in the Navy, he was a jet engine mechanic and a middle-weight boxing champion. At age 13, he started his career in the meat business at Scallon's Meat Market. Jay was a devoted family man who loved and lived for the happiness of his family and friends. He took great pride in the many wonderful meals he would cook for them. Jay loved his dogs, Annie and Breezy. He treasured his extensive Coca-Cola collection. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 5:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday. Visitation will resume Friday from 8:30am until the service at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Dr. Gilbert Griffith, Brad Dixon, and Rev. Ken Carroll. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Scott Welborn, Thomas Landers, Richard Schwartz, Brad Dixon, Gerald Ganey and Thomas Trantham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northside Humane Society, 5586 Line Road, Ethel, Louisiana 70730 (Paypal Northside Humane Society) or Looking Fur Love Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 14235, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70898.
