Janice Pack Adams, age 59, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 10, 2012. Beloved wife of Richard L. Adams. Daughter of Josie R. Chatman and the late Herbert Pack. Mother of Kendra Q. Barton-Odro (Derek) of Brooklyn, New York, and Xorica L. Adams of Jackson, Mississippi. Grandmother of Delvin D. Kelly, Jr. of LaPlace, LA. Step sister of Joseph Chatman, III of Muscatine, Iowa, Melvin Chatman of St. Louis, Missouri, Donald Gene Chatman of Natchez, Mississippi, and Mary Ann Chatman of Baton Rouge, LA. Sister-in-law of Amos Adams (Marie), Washington Cummings (Shirley), both of Baton Rouge, LA, Morris Jiles of Pontiac, Michigan, and Shirley Ann Adams of Baton Rouge, LA. Niece of Charlie Robinson of Baton Rouge, LA. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and a resident of LaPlace, LA. Janice attended Louisiana State University, she was employed by H&R Block of LaPlace for over 30 years. She also served in the capacity of a dynamic volunteer as a Girl Scout leader for over 25 years leaving a positive legacy and creating a supportive environment for developing leadership skills in all girls and young women in her community. She was an active member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Reserve, LA, where she served on numerous committees including Vacation Bible School, Pastor's Support Group, the Youth Choir, and the Multi-Purpose Building. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Beech Grove Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, employees of H & R Block, Girl Scouts Louisiana East, Marathon Oil, and Members of the 926th Fighter Wing (Air Force) are invited to attend the funeral at Beech Grove Baptist Church, 117 Beech Grove Drive, Reserve, LA, on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Wesley Anderson, Sr., Pastor; Rev. Jeff Patterson, Officiating. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Port Hudson, LA. Visitation at the above named church from 8:30 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her name to Girl Scouts Louisiana East, 841 S. Clearview Parkway, New Orleans, LA, 70121. Arrangements with Robottom Mortuary, Reserve.
