Kay Crochet, 65, of Gonzales, LA, died on Monday, July 1, 2013. She was an only child born on March 19, 1948 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She married while in college and moved to Thibodaux, Louisiana after college. If Kay loved someone, she loved them with her whole heart. She was a devoted mother to daughter Karen Mitchell and son Chris Crochet and beloved "Unny" to grandsons Matthew and Andrew Mitchell. She loved her family and had many friends. She nurtured these relationships through the years. Her faith was the center of her life. Her love for God guided her through the years, and the scriptures comforted her during difficult times. She enjoyed reading more than anything, especially Christian fiction. Later in life, Kay moved back to North Louisiana and worked for Holy Angels Residential Facility, a home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She loved the children and considered working with them a privilege. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Madge Johnson, her husband Charles E. Crochet, Jr., and her father-in-law Charles E. Crochet. Kay is survived by her children Karen Mitchell and husband Dennis; son Chris Crochet; grandsons Matthew and Andrew Mitchell; mother-in-law Louise Crochet; brother-in-law Brian Crochet, wife Peggy, and children John, Laura, and David; sister-in-law Darla Weisen and husband Jerome; and Uncle Johnny Johnson and wife Edna. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 am in the chapel in Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Rd., Baton Rouge.
