Leone was called to her heavenly home on Monday, December 17, 2012. She was born in Aurora, Illinois on December 29, 1918, and was a lifetime member of Holy Angels Church, and St. Jean Vianney Church. Leone retired from AT&T and was a proud member of IBEW Local 1492. She was a lifetime member of the Aurora Women's Moose Lodge, Montgomery Women's Auxiliary VFW
, and The American Business Women's Association Diamond City of Lights Chapter and Pelican Chapter - Baton Rouge, where she was twice recognized as Woman of the Year. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis A. Benedict; and her first husband the father of her children, Arvil Franklin, her parents; Olive Cullen Kerber Gall and Adam Kerber, her brothers; Kenneth, Lloyd "Bud", and Raymond Kerber Sr., her sister-in-law Geraldine Harris Kerber, her daughters Betty Jean Franklin Burton and Rita Sarah Veith Franklin, her nephews Kenneth and Raymond Kerber Jr., her granddaughter Judith Leone Franklin, and several cousins. Leone is survived by her children; Laurel Franklin Wall, James Arvil Franklin, Cheryl Franklin Jones and her husband Jerry Jones, and Penny Franklin Litty and her husband Heinz Litty; her grandchildren Diane Wall Pini, Sandra Wall Benkendorf and her husband Marc Benkendorf, Laura Wall McDavitt and her husband Scot McDavitt, Karen Wall Dlugopolski and her husband Dan Dlugopolski, Ruth Wall Garza, Betty Franklin Gustin and her husband Kevin Gustin, James Franklin Jr., John Ray Meador and his wife Jill Sartwell, Sherri Meador Bellock and husband Patrick Mitchell, Johnny Akers, and Penny Leone Akers Perkins; as well as several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, her nieces Joyce Kerber Mumford, Joan Kerber and Bonnie Kerber Leden, as well as several great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special recognition to Leone's caregivers, Dr. Deborah Abernathy, the staff of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, the community/ministers of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, and Father Tom Ranzino. Services will be held at St Jean Vianney Catholic Church, February 8, 2013 at 12:00 noon, Mass of Remembrance.
