Margreate Pitcher Raby

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Butterly Wing. At 98, she was the oldest member of the Greater Sixty-Aid Baptist Church. Everyone knew her as a strong, independent woman of great faith. She was a member of the Holiday Social Club and through the years, she volunteered at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Center and the Baton Rouge Food Bank. For many years, she was a Baton Rouge business owner of Raby's Amusement. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves to mourn her son, Henry Raby Jr.; daughter, Shirley Raby Smith; daughter-in-law, Veraldine Raby; son-in-law, Samuel Smith; eight grandchildren, Loretta Robertson, Terri Wallis (Lionel), Cedric Raby (Tonya), Kimberly Raby, Sonji McDowell, Samir Clark (Terry); five sisters, Mildred Hilliard, Virginia Carter, Estelle Walker, Matilda Livous (George), Dorothy Coleman; brother, Willie Pitcher; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Raby, Sr.; daughter, Louise Raby Valentine; sister, Sarah Miles; and her parents.
