Susan Margaret Lorraine Davis Holstein

Grandma SueSue, age 70, left us on January 8, 2013 to go live with God forever. As she was surrounded by family in prayer, an angel of mercy ever so gently took her soul from her body at its last breath. Sue was born and raised in Montreal, QE, Canada, and was fiercely loyal to her native land. Her formative years were spent in Greenwich, Connecticut before moving on to Pensacola, Florida. There, she attended the Pensacola Junior College Nursing School, where she formed lifelong friendships with the Costas, the Mannings and the Crooks. It is also where she met the man who would become her husband of 47 years, William J. Holstein. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, T.C. and Elisabeth Davis, and her grandmother Nano MacLeod, all of Montreal, QE, Canada, and by her "adopted" mother, Ruth "Mom" Costa of Pensacola, Florida. Sue is survived by her husband, Jerry Holstein; her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Ashley Holstein; and her daughter, Christy Holstein, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amy Holstein, and grandsons, Caleb and Eli, all of Celebration, Florida. She is also survived by her two brothers, Tam and Chris Davis and their families, of Montreal, QE, Canada. Sue was an avid gardener, loved to cook and entertain, read a book a day, co-founded Tech Test, Inc. of Louisiana with her husband, and talked news and politics with friends and family alike, but her biggest passion was the beach - Pensacola Beach, to be exact. Sue's final wish was to have her ashes buried at sea off of her beloved Pensacola Beach, where she spent her happiest times. A service will be held in the spring at a time and date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pensacola Beach Advocates, P.O. Box 1262, Gulf Breeze, FL, 32562 or visit their website at www.pbadvocates.org.
