Ulysses "Melot" Rodney

A native of New Roads and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Dec. 22, 2012. He was employed as a carpenter. Service at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 3912 Gus Young Ave., Baton Rouge, on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Louis Oubre. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park, 4025 North St., Baton Rouge. Survivors include his sisters, Rosa Mary Rodney and Mary Rodney/Haynes; brothers, Clifford Rodney, Jr. and John O. Rodney. Preceded in death by mother, Louise L. Rodney; father, Clifford Rodney, Sr.; sister, Francis Rodney Johnson; and brother, Andrew L. Rodney. Pallbearers will be Malcolm Johnson, Curt Rodney, Oray Johnson, Andrew Davis, James Rodney and Quinn Rodney. Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Rodney, Jr., John O. Rodney, Varick Rodney, Marvin Haynes, Brandon Johnson, Colin Rodney, Alvin Johnson, Gerald Haynes, Jonathan Haynes and Lawrence Crocram. He was a graduate of McKinley Sr. High School.
