Virginia Summers

A loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at the age of 91. She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Chicago, IL, and was a Veteran of the Naval Waves who served in WWII. She was a writer for the St. Thomas More Catholic Church Tower Newspaper and attended the University of Wisconsin. A graveside service will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 1 PM. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Winfred L. Summers, Jr.; daughter, Jan Summers-Koch and husband, David; sons, Kirk Summers and wife, Jan, and Roy Summers and wife, Charlotte (Charlie); eight grandchildren, Christopher Summers, Benjamin Summers, Jake Summers and wife, Holly, Jessica Grey Moyed and husband, Karl, Casey Summers and wife, Brooke, Leslie Summers, Jena Townsley, and Jaclyn Townsley; and eight great grandchildren, Drake Vincent, Mallory Vincent, Alexis Summers, Joshua Summers, Cooper Summers, Lincoln Summers, Emma Moyed, and Kerby Moyed. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Gronowski; son, Scott Vincent Summers; and four brothers, George, Edwin, Paul, and Jackie Gronowski.
