Gregory Mitchell Obituary

Gregory "Greg" Mitchell, 52, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013. He was a native and resident of Baton Rouge, a 1979 graduate of Catholic High School and 1989 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University. He was Principal and Chief Operating Officer of The Pangburn Company in New Roads, LA. Greg was a loving husband to his wife of 26 years Tammy Major Mitchell, a devoted father to his three children, Warren, Sarah and Olivia Mitchell and a wonderful brother to his sister Tia Mitchell Close and her husband Christopher Close. He was a member of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church and faithfully attended Manresa retreat for many years. He loved LSU sports, the game of golf, and family vacations. His zest for life and smiling face will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his father Samuel G. Mitchell and mother Catherine F. Mitchell. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5pm until 9pm and continuing on Friday, February 8, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church from 10am until Mass at 11:00am. I am so glad I got to visit with Greg during the SJA/CHS class reunion gatherings. We laughed about how I use to give him a ride back and forth to SLU our freshman year. His personality and spirit was the exact same 30 years later. RIP our friend. Heaven has a new angel watching over us.

Tammy and family,

I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Greg's passing. He and I were best of friends at New York Life for all the years he worked there and since. He was truly a fine and loving man and I'm sure he will be sorely missed. I know I will miss him. Please take comfort in the fact that God has him in His hands and Greg is totally happy and at peace. We all will miss him.
