Irma Peltier Obituary

Irma Mary "Mickey" Geheeb Peltier, aged ninety, died on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 after a brief illness. She was a native of New Orleans and resident of Thibodaux. She was born May 12, 1924 the third daughter of Albert John and Cleo Belou Geheeb. She is survived by three sisters; Ellen Isabel Geheeb, Cleo Geheeb Elliot, and Julia Hyacinth Geheeb. She graduated from Holy Angels Catholic School and Ursuline College. Mickey married Harvey Peltier, Jr. on June 30, 1945 and soon moved to Thibodaux. She is survived by her three children Patricia "Pat" Peltier Crum, Harvey A. "Drew" Peltier, III and spouse Linda, and Mary Ellen Peltier, five grandchildren Cherie Peltier Wright (Andrew), Angelle Peltier Lowery (Jason), John Harvey "Jay" Crum (Kong Wee Pang), Meredith Ann Crum, and Rachel Lynn Crum and five great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, former State Senator Harvey Peltier, Jr., their infant son, her son-in-law John Mitchell Crum, Jr., her parents, and brother-in-law Joseph Manuel Elliot, Jr. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She loved Mardi Gras, professional football, and plays, especially those on Broadway. The family expresses its gratitude to Dr. T. Greg Chaisson, the staffs of St. Joseph Manor and Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, and all her caregivers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for Masses or donations to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 2635 State St, New Orleans, LA 70118 or the Second Harvest Food Bank, Greater New Orleans & Acadiana, 700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70123. Visitation will be on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
