James Daniel Claitor

A resident and native of Baton Rouge, Mr. Claitor "Papa" passed away Monday, August 4, 2014, in Baton Rouge at age 90. He was a retired Real Estate developer and former President of The Real Estate Board of Santa Clara County, CA. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha (LSU), a member of the LSU Boxing Team 1945-46 and Army boxing champion of the Pacific 1947-1948. He was stationed in Burma, India, during World War II with the rank of Sergeant. He is survived by his children, James Daniel, Sheldon Bruce, Gregory, James Allen, Allen Hannaford, Trevor Daniel, and Daniel Shea Claitor, Theresa "Mo" Wadsworth, Pauline Claitor Flores, and Mary Claitor Burt; brother, Robert G. Claitor, his wife Nancy, and their sons, James Dean, Robert G. Jr., Daniel A., and John Fleming Claitor; 17 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Claitor is preceded in death by his parents Otto and Mable Fleming Claitor and his loving sisters, Jewel Ogorzaly, and Betsy Blagg. Visitation will be Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Carpenter's Chapel United Methodist Church, 41181 LA Highway 933, Prairieville, from 9 am until religious services at 10 am conducted by Dr. Peter Harrington and Rev. John Locascio. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be James A., Daniel S., Jon F., Daniel A., Robert G. Claitor, Eric D. and Evan T. Burt, Hugo O. Flores. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel G., James D., and Jon Patrick Claitor, Brennan L. Burt, and Jaesyn R. Vasquez.
