Arthur Ory Obituary

"The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I lack. In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me; you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name. Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage." Psalm 23:1-4. A beloved husband, loving father, grandfather and brother returned home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at 12:35 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a battle with Parkinson's disease. Joel LaBauve, celebrant. Burial in Prairieville Hope Haven Cemetery. Arthur was 82, born on Nov. 29, 1924, and a resident of Gonzales. Survived by his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Ruby Dupuy Ory; daughter-in-law, Ann Ory; daughters and sons-in-law, Libby and Dean Riley and Licia and David Chaney; sisters, Brunhilde "Brownie" Roberts, of Marrero, and Ruth Ory, of Gonzales; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and wife Kellie, Brandi, Nikki, Jami, Ashli, Rebecca, Steven, Brian and Charles; great-grandchildren, Jenison and Kayden; godchildren, Pheral Kinchen and Myla Babin, of Gonzales. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur J. Ory Sr. and Mary Ann Brown, who were of Gonzales; sons, infant John Paul Ory and Kevin D. Ory; and sister, Marie Ory Zimmer. He was a graduate of Gonzales High School, class of 1943. He worked at the Pasqua Theatre, Electronic Supply Co., Baton Rouge, and retired in 1984 as an electrician from the signal shop of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. He loved to share his knowledge and through the guidance of the late pastor of St. Mark Catholic Church, the Rev. Herculon DeMaria, he touched many lives and was dedicated to serving in various church ministries as lector, commentator, Eucharistic minister, 30-year catechist, baptism seminar and RCIA instructor and Knights of Columbus chartered member. He was a real family man at the COA, SALT and AARP. Honorary pallbearers are John Shelton Dupuy Sr., Clark Roberts, Lionel Bourdreaux, James "Jim" Dupuy and Dennis Volentine. In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Ms. Ruby and Family, although it saddens me to even have to write this, it warms my heart to know that Mr. Arthur is now reunited with Kevin. As I sit here trying to figure out the perfect words of comfort and memories, too many come to mind, all of them full of love and laughter. I guess that is the way we will always remember him; full of vitality and laughter and love, especially for his family and extended family, which I am proud to be considered a part of. Know that he will be sorely missed. If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to call, Ann, Josh, & Jake all have our number. See all of you soon, love to all, Chris
