Lucy Giambrone Obituary

Giambrone, Lucy Sagona Retired co-owner of Joseph Giambrone Grocery Store and a homemaker, she died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at 10:14 p.m. in Donaldsonville. She was 100, a resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Barton. She was a landlady for 12 historic houses in Donaldsonville and president of JNL Inc. and LSG Inc. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, on Friday, Feb. 23, was from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Phil Spano, celebrant. Entombment in the church cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Lucille Giambrone Matassa and Cathrine Giambrone, both of Donaldsonville; grandchildren, Joseph and Georgette Matassa, Convent, and Philip and Leila Matassa and Steven and Lisa Matassa, all of Donaldsonville; great-grandsons, Andy Matassa and wife Jamie, and Peter Matassa; great-granddaughters, Alex and Alayna Matassa; and great-great-grandson, Grant Matassa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Giambrone; parents, Felix and Catherine Depuma Sagona; four sisters, Bertha Regira, Mary Giambrone, Grace Ferro and Lena Grisaffe; five brothers, Tony, Michel, Sam, Frank and Joseph Sagona Sr.; great-grandson, Garret Matassa; and son-in-law, Philip Matassa Sr. Pallbearers will be Joseph, Philip, Steven, Andy and Peter Matassa and Jimmie Regira. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
