A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died on June 25, 2014, at the age of 91. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Albert Jr. and Kathi Whitehead; grandchildren Rachael Marie Merey and Andrew Michael Merey; and, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Thomas A. Merey and Adele Mansur Merey; wife, Marie Michelli Merey; and two sisters, Doris Merey Siebert and Margaret Merey Curtis. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in World War II in the Pacific Area. He was a member of Saint Gerard Majella Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, on Friday, June 27, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Visitation on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Boulevard, with service immediately following. Mass will be celebrated by Father Clifton Hill. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andrew Merey, Peter Mansur, Thomas Mansur, Jr., Marshall Roy, Barrett Murphy, and Donald Modicut. The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for the support and care they provided.
