Aubrey Larry Brooks, 75, a resident of Baton Rouge passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at The Carpenter House after battling lymphoma for the third time. Larry was born January 3, 1939 in Wisner, LA. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Exxon as a heavy equipment operator. Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie Stephens Brooks, two daughters, Joy Brooks Higgins and husband Ralph, Judy Brooks and a son, Larry Brooks Jr. and wife Nancy, two grandchildren, Saylor Higgins and Noah Higgins. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Brooks of Houston, TX and a sister, Gay Reynolds of Vidalia, LA. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Hall Brooks, a brother, Charles "Buddy" Brooks and a sister, Elsie Lemoine. Services are under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be Friday, April 11th from 5 PM to 9 PM and continuing Saturday, April 12th from 10 AM until the funeral service at 2 PM. The family would like to give special Thanks to Dr. Ruben Fabrega, his nurse Gail and the entire infusion staff (Larry's chemo Angels) for their care and concern through the years of treatment and also the staff of St. Joseph Hospice/The Carpenter House for their care of Larry and support to the family.
