Charles Alfred Rihner entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the age of 103. He was the son of the late Rudolph Mithias Rihner and May Wilke Rihner. Beloved husband of Shirley Appollonia Calamia Rihner, and by first marriage the late Mary Calamia. Step-father of Dr. Kenneth Calamia, Cynthia Calamia Laborde, Janice Calamia Goodbee, Susan Calamia Overheu, and the late Cary Roy Calamia. Grandfather of Laurel, Lindsay, Catherine, Melissa, Marisa, Amy, Timothy, and the late Daniel Roy Calamia. Also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by all. Charlie was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Tulane University. He worked for the State of Louisiana Department of Employment Security for over 35 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday evening, August 19, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
