Donald Earl Allred, 74, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Valentine Allred; son, Brian Scott Allred and wife Robin Roth Allred; grandchildren: Bryce Alexzander Allred and Jordan Taylor Allred; and sister, Dee Allred Poe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie Lamont Allred and Miriam Grace Allred; and son Wade Kevin Allred. Don joined Louisiana National Bank in January of 1965 as an investment trainee and went on to become Trust Investment Officer in 1968. His duties later included the only President and CEO of Premier Investment Advisors, an investment sub that managed trust assets in a series of mutual funds. In 1996 Premier Investment Advisors was bought by BankOne and Don became one of the portfolio managers for the small cap fund. In 1997, the small cap fund was recognized for its excellent performance versus all other small cap bank funds. After 34 years of employment, Don took early retirement in September of 1998. Don loved duck hunting with his son Brian and two grandchildren at their duck lodge in Jonesville, LA as well as fishing with his wife, Linda, and family/friends at his retirement home in Pointe Fourchon, LA. He also enjoyed camping and LSU sports. He traveled to Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, Canada, the northwest mountain states and Mexico in pursuit of wild game. Don served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1964 at Keesler, Air Force Base, in Biloxi, MS and became the first 2nd Lieutenant to hold the position of Squadron Commander. His squadron trained hundreds of troops to become proficient in radar and radio used in combat conditions. He was released from active duty and promoted to the rank of Captain in 1967. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 10am until service time at 12:00pm. Rev. Ken Carroll will preside over the services. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
