George Wilson Davis, a resident of Amite, died at 7:10 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born September 28, 1919, in Amite and was 94 years of age. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, where he served in the North American, Asiatic and South Pacific Theater. He was also a member of Westview Baptist Church. Survived by wife, Mary Retha Battles Davis, Amite; 3 sons, Glen Wilson Davis and wife, Sheelah, Baton Rouge, Lyndon Earl Davis and wife, Lisa, Amite, and David Brent Davis and wife, Barbara, Amite; 6 grandchildren, Emily Chenier and husband, Kevin, Prairieville, Robert Davis and fiancé, Aja Brown, Baton Rouge, Julie Neidhamer and husband, Eric, Ponchatoula, Ashley Davis, Amite, Marlyn Davis, Amite and Brent Davis, Amite; 2 great grandchildren, Cade Neidhamer and Ashlyn Neidhamer; brother, Huey Davis and wife, Doris, Amite and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Davis and Caroline Reeves Davis, and 2 sisters, Lillie Davis Newell and Mildred Davis Thompson. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 PM until 9 PM, Sunday and from 8 AM until religious services at 11 AM Monday, June 2, 2014. Services conducted by Rev. John Foles.
