Henry J. Jumonville III, 69, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at home. Husband of Gerri Flores Jumonville. Father of Henry J. Jumonville IV of Atlanta and Jean-Paul Jumonville (Christine) of Santa Monica, CA, and Jacques Jumonville (children of his first marriage to Susan Henington Jumonville). Son of Sara Louise McLellan Jumonville and the late Henry J. Jumonville, Jr. Brother of J. Robert Jumonville (Stephanie) and Sara Louise Jumonville Bugbee. He attended LaSalle and Isidore Newman schools. At 16 he continued his education at Baylor Military School in Chattanooga, TN. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from Tulane University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army and served in South Vietnam as a platoon leader and company commander, honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. He began his legal career with the firm of Norwood Hingle, Jr. He also served as the Director of the Division of Socioeconomics for the Louisiana State Medical Society. He joined the Louisiana Medical Mutual Insurance Company (LAMMICO) in 1981, and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He was promoted to President of the Company in 2000 until he retired in 2005. After leaving LAMMICO, he resumed his private law practice; worked as a Senior Consultant for Wells, Canning & Associates and also served as Medical Review Panel Chair in medical malpractice complaints filed with the Louisiana Patient's Compensation Fund. Mr. Jumonville was a board member of the Physicians' Insurers Association of America, serving as Vice Chair and on the Membership and Bylaws Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee, Member of the International Section, Member of the Sweetland Award Committee, and Liaison to Legal & Marketing Sections. He received the Peter Sweetland Award of Excellence in 2005. He also served as a Board Member of the Blood Center where he was Chairman of the Legal & Insurance Committee. Since 1991, he served as President - Chairman of the Board of Plaquemines Oil & Development Company. He was a member of the Boston Club, School of Design, Allstate Sugar Bowl, Crillo Club, Caterpillar Club, Pickwick Club, Stratford Club, New Orleans Lawn Tennis , Southern Yacht Club, and Kappa Alpha Order. Mr. Jumonville was an avid skier, bicyclist and tennis player. He enjoyed reading, exercising, soccer, and always had an open ear for a good natured joke, but never at anyone's expense. He was a true Southern gentleman with a broad circle of devoted family and friends who respected him, admired him, and will miss him dearly. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. A reception will be held at Audubon Golf Club in Audubon Park from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Contributions to ARC of Greater New Orleans, the Lighthouse of the Blind, Magnolia School or Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater N.O. preferred.
