Bubber was one of seven children born to Humphrey Theodore and Elsie Heck Olinde. He obtained his elementary and high school education from Poydras High School in New Roads, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from LSU in 1948, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. At LSU he enlisted in the National Guard while continuing to work with his father at B. Olinde & Sons Company in New Roads. Bubber worked in the family businesses from early childhood until his death. Bubber was a devout Catholic and knight of the Order of St. Gregory the Great. Bubber was successful in his endeavors as a businessman, banker, investor, real estate developer, philanthropist, and historic preservationist.
