Ida Mae Coon, 83, a resident of Baker, LA and a native of Dutchtown, LA died on Monday, December 23, 2013. She was retired, after working many years at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 6pm until 9pm and then on Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Isidore in Baker from 9am until funeral mass at 11am, conducted by Father Matthew McCaughey and Deacon Brent Duplessis . Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Baker. She is survived by one daughter, Karen C. Button of New Orleans; one son, Douglas P. Coon Sr. of Zachary; one sister, Marie Bordelon and her husband Richard of Baker; two brothers, O.J. Duplessis and his wife Eva of Baker, and Ivy Duplessis and his wife Ruth of Bayou Manchac; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Robert Coon; son William Sullivan Coon; brothers Julian Duplessis and Jimmy Duplessis; and daughter-in-law Betty Coon. Pallbearers will be Frederick Prescott, Jeff Hall, Brian Hall, Keith Duplessis, Scott Duplessis, James MacDonald, and William Tamplain. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Association #1746; the Baker Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Women's' Auxiliary of the Woodmen of the World.
