A gathering for Mr. John E. Kirby, 80, will be held at the chapel of Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, from 2 p.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Huey Kirby. Mr. Kirby was born on Dec. 10, 1932, in Walker, LA, to the union of Harold H. Kirby and Amy Lee Lockhart Kirby Picard. He departed from this life Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at his home in Walker. He was a retired Construction Engineer, member of the Methodist Faith, American Legion, NRA, and Ducks Unlimited of which he was past chairman of the Livingston Parish Chapter. He enjoyed outdoors, hunting and fishing, but his passion was duck hunting. He was an avid sports fan of LSU and New Orleans Saints. He served with the U.S. Army during Korea and received two purple hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, George Mitchell Kirby, Wallace Monroe Kirby and Jesse Kirby. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Quider Kirby; children, Vickie Lee Kirby Parrish, Mark E. Kirby (Charlotte), Troy D. Kirby (Kelly), and Tracey D. Kirby Reily (Scott); sister, Johnnie Bea Kirby Naper; brother, Hugh Kirby (Mary Lynn); sister-in-law, Deidra Kirby; grandchildren, Bradley, Shelby, Matthew, Cayden and Anna Clair; special niece, Donna Kirby Sprunk; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
