Chism, Spc. Johnathan Bryan, U.S. Army He was a loving son, brother and friend. At the time he died he was Spc. Johnathan Bryan Chism, 2nd Brigade 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division out of Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was born Nov. 28, 1984, in Baton Rouge, and lived in Prairieville. He died in Karbala, Iraq, at 22 years old, keeping the fight there so it would not come here. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales, on Thursday, Feb. 1, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and resumed at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Funeral service at First Baptist Church, 1217 S. Burnside, Gonzales, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3. Interment will be in Hope Haven Cemetery, La. 30, Gonzales. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Danny and Vanessa Chism, both of Belle Rose; mother, Elizabeth Chism of Prairieville; a sister, Spc. Julie Chism of Prairieville; stepbrothers, Eric and Dennis Bourg of Belle Rose; maternal grandmother, VJ Snelson of Lawton, Okla.; paternal grandfather, CB Chism of Helena, Ark.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William J. Snelson Sr.; paternal grandmother, Jewel Chism; and uncles, Rex and Billy Chism.
