A resident of Hammond, he died on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born November 20, 1923 in Spring Creek and was 89 years of age. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Emma Dean Morgan McDaniel, Hammond; 2 daughters, Janet McDaniel Bankston and husband, Byron, Hammond and Julie McDaniel Shartle and Bryan, Madisonville; 7 grandchildren, Leah, Bolden, Micah, Rebekah, Cain Bankston, and Chloe and Caleb Shartle; sister, JoAnn M. Strickland and husband, Dale, Baton Rouge; 2 brothers, Harold McDaniel, Kentwood, and Clyve McDaniel and wife, Margie, Athens, TX; brother-in-law, Ervin Nebelsick, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Luna McDaniel; brother, Tommy McDaniel; sister, Mary Edna Nebelsick; sister-in-law, Sue McDaniel. Visitation at Spring Creek Baptist Church, Kentwood, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith and Rev. L.C. Lord.
