Knight Phares "K." Roddy Sr. passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Elaine Williams Roddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Knight Preston and May Phares Roddy and sister, Joy Roddy Mogabgab. He is also survived by a son, Knight Phares Roddy Jr. and wife, Kevin Cooper Roddy, daughters Susan Roddy Cox and husband Keith Cox, and Carolyn Roddy Golightly and husband Dr. George Golightly. Survivors also include grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Knight Phares Roddy III, Kathryn Roddy, Angelle Roddy, Caroline Roddy, Cooper Roddy, Jack Roddy, Lee Cox and wife Lila Baudouin Cox, Katie Cox Boston and husband Will Boston, Logan Cox, Keri Cox, Landon Cox, Riley Golightly and Mallory Golightly, great-grandchildren Kennedi Cox, Lee Cox II, Bailey Cox and Beckett Boston.He was born on September 26, 1930, in Ethel, Louisiana. K. was a lifelong resident of Ethel and lifelong member of Ethel United Methodist Church. He attended Ethel High School where his father was principal and was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School. He attended Southeastern LA University and was a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1951 with a degree in agriculture. K. was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army for two years. He retired from James River Paper Mill after thirty-three years. Over the years, he was a dairyman, cattleman, and tree farmer. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman, enjoying trapping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking for the Ethel Men's Club. Visitation is Monday, August 18, from 5-8 pm at Charlet Funeral Home, Clinton, LA. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, August 19, at 9 am with funeral following at 10 am conducted by Reverend Keith Cox and Reverend Joy Comeaux and burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers will be Lee Cox, Knight Phares Roddy III, Logan Cox, Landon Cox, Cooper Roddy, Jack Roddy, Will Boston, Keith Cox, and George Golightly. Honorary pallbearers include Paul Williams, Chuck Carr, Larry Castello, Blair Alford and Phil Fontenot. Special thank you to Drs. Scott Wharton, Mitch Hebert, and Jeff Hyde for their care.
