Ruthie, I came across your book by accident at my local library. Something told me to bring it home and read it. It was an inspiration to me because of all the good you gave to those around you and because my sister, like you, died of cancer at the age of 42. I miss her dearly. Her name was Gracie Alvarado. As I read the book, "The Little Way of Ruthie Leming, I felt as if I had known your family. Rest well up in Heaven and tell my sister Gracie I miss her dearly.

Ruthie,
I was so blessed to have you as my cousin. I always looked up to you as a shining example of not only what a woman, wife, friend and mother should be but also what a human being should be. You met adversity with a smile, accepted a challenge with open arms and never met a child you couldn't teach. I know that your girls embody these same traits.

Though you may not be with us, your memory will remain through every person's life you touched. My love goes out to Mike, Hannah, Claire & Rebekah and to Aunt Dot & Uncle Ray, Rod & his family.

To: Hannah, Claire, and Rebekah,
Hold on to your mother's love. It will always be there for you. She will always be with you in spirit. May the memories and love of her help you through this difficult time. What a brave battle she fought to stay here with her children, husband, family and friends despite the odds. Her spirit lives on in each and every one of you. I am praying for you to get through this knowing that God loves you and will take care of you. Ruthie led a life of courage, compassion and caring. She was a special person who had nothing but love for everyone she knew. Ruthie is the example of giving to others rather than receiving from others. Her life is an inspiration to us all regarding what beauty is all about. I am proud to have known her. She is an angel in heaven watching over her beautiful family. May God give you the comfort, peace, and strength only he can deliver.

My sincere sympathy,
Sharon Russell Vessel

I am so thankful that I had the pleasure of knowing such a beautiful lady inside and out. She gave me words of comfort just a few years ago when I was facing the loss of my mother. She was a woman that no matter what she was faced with she was going to make the best of it. To know that she is no longer in pain is the comfort that God has left us with. You know that she is with our father in heaven and is praising him. She has met her reward for the life that she lived here on earth, her mansion in heaven. God Bless you Ruthie for the the lessons that you taught us here. And the memories that you left us with that will live on in our hearts. You will be missed but never forgotten. Till we meet again.

Mike and family,
My heart goes out to you and your children during this difficult time. I will always remember Ruthie's smiling face. Before she was sick everytime I saw her she was smiling. After she was ill and I would see here around town she was smiling. Even the last time I spoke with her a few weeks ago and asked how she was doing she told me and she was smiling. I know your hearts are hurting now but I know Ruthie is looking down on you right now and...smiling.

Dear Leming Family, I met Ruthie only a few years ago when I began substituting at W. Fel. Middle School. What a pleasure it was to get to know her. Anytime I had to 'sub' in math, I almost always had to go knock on her class room door and ask for help. I'm terrible in math. She would always graciously assist me. Hannah, you are the only one of the daughters that I met. You too were a pleasure to have in class. I know that Ruthie touched many, many lives. She truly will be missed by many.
Sincerely
Pat Heurtin

Mrs. Leming,

I was in your first class that you taught. I remember you were so sweet. You used to give us bubble gum when we were good, and cry when we were bad. You made us want to do good, not out of fear of getting in trouble, but because we knew that would make you happy. I saw you in the store a few months ago, and you still remembered me by name. That says a lot. I will always remember you as one of my favorite teachers.
