Walter, 66, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his residence. He was a resident of Grosse Tete and native of Baton Rouge. He was employed by Bell South/AT&T for 46 years. He served as the president of Local 3403 of Communications Workers of America for the past 29 years. He was co-founder and fire chief of the Bayou Blue Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, member of the Iberville Fire Firefighters Association, serving as a communications officer and member of Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm and at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grosse Tete on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Patricia Nichols Bagot; daughter and son in law Joli and Thomas Bryan; son Jason Bagot; grandchildren Thomas Brooks and Amelia Bryan; half-brother Kenneth Bagot; aunts Vickie Daigle, Anna Landry, Catherine Campbell, Verda Dugas; special cousins Archie Tullier and Viola Taylor; mother in law Peggy Bossier Nichols; sisters in law and brothers in law, Charlotte and Warren Hoffman, Jr., Debra and Ory Persick, Jr. and Morris Wayne Nichols and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Walter and Verta Lee McCullum Bagot and father in law Morris E. Nichols. Pallbearers will be Morris Wayne Nichols, Chris Hoffman, Jared Persick, Bernie Young, Richard Crochet and Dwaine Henderson.
