Son of Wilbur Hugh Kean and Elva Amiss Kean, a life long resident of Baton Rouge, died on September 1st at the age of 81. Amiss graduated from LSU in chemical engineering and first worked for Dupont in Virginia and then served in Korea as commanding officer of the 518th army engineers. He returned to Baton Rouge and became a managing partner of Keans-Redstick. He was a founding co-owner of Keans Hospital Linen Service, LaCours Carpet World, and Ventura Uniform service in New Orleans. He was a founding member of the Krewe of Achilles and Bocage Raquet Club and was also a member of Rotary Club, City Club, and Baton Rouge Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eberhardt Shoptaugh Kean; children Christopher Kean (wife Julie) of Atlanta, GA and Warren Kean (wife Amy) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Adrienne Kean, Travis Kean, Trevor Kean, Wesley Kean, and Anna Kean. He is also survived by Ruth's children, Cathy Shoptaugh Landry, David Shoptaugh (wife Beth), John Shoptaugh (wife Bridget), Mark Shoptaugh (wife Anna), and a host of grandchildren all from Baton Rouge, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son David Kean of Houston, TX, and by best friend Neil Nehrbass of Lafayette, LA. A private memorial service will be held for family. Memorial Donations can be made in his name to Burden Rural Life Museum and Smile Train. Amiss was an organ donor. He lives on in the hearts of all those who love him.
