A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Adelard "Bean" Babin Jr. went to heaven at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at Ochsner Hospital, New Orleans. He was 84 and a native of Paulina. Visitation at Gramercy First Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Burial in St. John Memorial Garden, LaPlace, under the direction of the Rev. Sam Jones. Bean is survived by his wife, Audrey Mae Babin, of Gramercy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Mary Audrey, of Houma, and Larry and Connie Babin, of Paulina; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Hugh Beasley, of Lumberton, Texas, Paula and Richard Letney, of Brookeland, Texas, and Valerie and Joseph Hymel, of Paulina; and two sisters, Edna Tilford, of LaPlace, and Therese Kliebert, of Gramercy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was employed by Kaiser Aluminum in Gramercy for 27 years. He enjoyed growing his vegetables and was a member of the CB radio club and VFW Post 2033 in Woodville, Texas. Arrangements by Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher.
