Sister Bernice Lawrence Johnson, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA went peacefully home at her residence Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She lived a full and rewarding 96 years. Visitation at New Sunlight Baptist Church, 1777 America St., Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, April 12 from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. conducted by the Reverend Dale W. Flowers, Pastor. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Lawrence Key, St. Louis, MO; five children, Frances Johnson Cal and husband Clarence Sr., Seattle, WA; Eddie Johnson Jr. and wife Jeannine Sims, Baton Rouge, LA; Marjorie Johnson Burrell and husband Samuel, Victorville, CA; Lawrence Johnson, Baton Rouge, LA; Arleen Johnson Paul and husband Rosario, Brooklyn, NY; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, the Reverend Eddie Johnson Sr., two brothers, one sister and her son Allen Lloyd Johnson. Services entrusted to Desselle Funeral Home.
