"Weeping may endure for the night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalms 30:5. A retired Southern Baptist preacher and a devoted husband and father, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 12:16 a.m. at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. He was 85, a native and former longtime resident of Mobile, Ala., and a resident of Baker. He was an avid golfer and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Highway 98, Columbia, Miss., on Wednesday, June 8, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bill Whitfield. Survived by his loving wife, Betty Jean Inabnit Hale, of Baker; daughter, Mary Hale, of Baker; son, John Hale and wife Edie, of Lucedale, Miss.; sister, Ann McKillop; two brothers, Mitchell and Curtis Hale; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dear Bill Hale's family. I'm not sure if you are still checking messages but my dad James J. Sullivan served in the Navy in WWII with your father Bill Hale. I am just today learning of the passing of Bro. Bill. I was a member of Culvert St Baptist Church, Whistler, Al. I was one of the co-founding members of the Church and in the early days he was called to become our minister. My dad was a deacon (Bill Brown) and I typed many sermons for Bro. Bill. Those wonderful memories will remain in my heart forever.
I pray that God will wrap you and your family in his Holy arms and give you peace and assurance of a future meeting with him.

Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Bro. Bill was such a special person and I truly admired his work for the Lord. He brought many words of encouragement to my mom during her battle with cancer over 31 years ago. His visits during her illness made a bright spot in her life.
