Camille Kennard Obituary

A native and resident of Central, Camille was sung into heaven by her namesake, "Little Camille," on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, surrounded by her family and friends. She was "just" 93, a homemaker and retired school bus driver. She tirelessly helped others and her community. She was the wife of 54 years to the late Sterling D. Kennard, justice of the peace in the Central community. She was the proud mother of Donald Ray Kennard, retired state legislator of 32 years, mother-in-law of Mona Norris Kennard, the doting and loving grandmother of Robin Lisa Kennard and Stacy Rae Kennard Doucet, wife of David Doucet, adoring great-grandmother of Philip James, Samuel Sterling Kennard, Thomas David and Camille Elizabeth Doucet, caring sister of Ethel Carpenter Watts, sister-in-law of Josie Carpenter and Jean Firmin Carpenter, and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Bertie Ritterman Carpenter; seven brothers, Henry, Maurice, Willard, Allen, Landry, Favrot and Johnny Carpenter; and sister, Annie Laura Whitehead. Visiting at Zoar Baptist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 14, was from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at the church on Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. conducted by Dr. Kevin Hand. Interment in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons and Honorable Clif Richardson, Joe Chemin and Ken Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Rogillio, Joe Greco, William Aaron, Bozo Herpin, Lewis Bagot and Carl Luikart, M.D. A special thanks to her caregivers, Mona Bates, Judy Albarado and Stacey Pinchera, and Hospice In His Care. Memorial donations may be made to Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Hospice In His Care or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home East.

Robin, when I called last night to lift your spirits, I never imagined that I would be the one blessed. You and Stacy made her so proud. May God keep all of you close as you learn to live without her physical presence. May her humor, courage, loyalty and love accompany you forever.
