A lover of sweets, an expert in WordSearch and a huge fan of "Wheel of Fortune," Carrie departed this life Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at 3:50 p.m. with family at her bedside. She was born March 15, 1916, a native of St. Francisville and a resident of Baton Rouge. She will be remembered for her passion for cooking at church functions, her fondness for sewing and the beautiful clothes she always wore. Visiting at the Greater Sixty-Aid Baptist Church, 655 Gardere Lane, on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. James R. Barrett Sr., senior pastor. Interment in Roselawn Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Billie B. Whitley and husband Leonard; a granddaughter, Nicole M. Whitley; a sister, Mattie Williams Banks, of San Diego; two sisters-in-law, Ida W. Raby and Eunice Raby; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
