Cecil M. Blackwell was born Nov. 23, 1946, and passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at his daughter's residence in Loranger. He was 64, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Loranger. Mr. Cecil is survived by two daughters, Connie Blackwell Klein and husband Patrick, of Loranger, and Jackie Blackwell Achord and husband Bruce, of Walker; former wife, Ginger Blackwell, of Independence; grandchildren, Kyle Klein, Karlie Klein, Shane Klein, Brennan Delk and Brennan Paul Achord; great-grandson, Bentley Klein; four sisters, Madeline Blackwell Darcey and husband Gene, of Baton Rouge, Charlene Blackwell Culpepper and husband Mac, of Houston, Denise Blackwell Shanks and husband Walter, of Lampasas, Texas, and Tammy Blackwell Panepinto and husband Don, of Baton Rouge; brother, George Terry Blackwell and wife Judi, of Ethel; special nurse and niece, Angel Robert, of Slidell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Johnson Blackwell; son-in-law, Gary Delk; niece, Jennifer Kay Shanks; and brother-in-law, Tommy Chapman. Mr. Cecil was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Independence, and Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 198, of Baton Rouge. He was a retired employee of Hammond State School. Visitation at McKneely and Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until Celebration of Life service at 10 a.m. in the chapel, with Brother Nathan Firmin and Brother Trent Campbell officiating.
