Christine Williams Obituary

Christine ""Chris"" BonEnfant Williams was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 27, 1946. In her early childhood she and her family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she grew up and resided for the remainder of her life. She attended elementary school in East Baton Rouge Parish and middle school at Westdale Junior High School. She graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1964 and then obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University in psychology in 1968. After graduating from college she enlisted in the United States Navy, attended Officer Candidate School, and was commissioned as an Ensign in Norfolk Virginia. She served approximately nine years, three on active duty in Corpus Christi, Texas and six in the Naval Reserve at the Personnel Center in New Orleans. She retired from the Navy in 1982 with the rank of LTJG and then worked as a retirement plan administrator for over thirty years. Chris married Robert W. Williams, III on May 6, 1973 and together they had two wonderful and lovely children, Robert IV and Jennifer, all who survive her. Her father, Ramon P. BonEnfant and her mother, Dorothy June BonEnfant both predeceased her. She is also survived by her sister, Carrie Jean Patureau, and other family members Erin, Leigh, Alicia, Brooke, Nathan, Anna, Caleb, Roberta, Cindy, Sharon, Bill, Patrick, Chase, Maggie, Regan and Harvey Jasper Dooley. Chris and her husband became members of the Florida Boulevard Baptist Church in 2008 and during that brief time she came to know and love her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All her family want to thank the church, church members, and especially her Sunday school class (whom she adored) for all their help, guidance, encouragement, and love in walking with her on her trip home. Chris was beloved by all who knew her and she will be so dearly missed. We will cherish her memories and she will live forever in our hearts. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Monday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Florida Boulevard Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the religious service at 12 Noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Offer condolences at www.rabenhorst.com.

I just sadly learned of Chris's untimely passing while trying to find her online to hopefully reconnect. Chris and I met during Navy officer training at Newport, R. I. We became friends and remained so throughout our training. When we both received our first set of orders, Chris went to Corpus Christi, TX and I to Beeville, TX. We remained friends during our tours in Texas, visiting each other occasionally on weekends. I saw Chris one more time during a visit with my aunt in the Baton Rouge area some years later. We spent an evening together catching up on old times. Words cannot convey my sadness to learn of her passing. To family and friends, please accept my most heartfelt condolences. To Chris, thank you for your friendship and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Chris was a delight and a treasure for all those in her sphere. She contributed so much to everyone; she was always there with a smile and something wise and clever and giving to share. Her premature death is bitter hard and so I pray for grace and ease for all of us, and especially the family.

We know she is in heaven tending God's garden and feeding His birds, especially her beloved purple martins.

What a deep, dark loss for us. Miss. Chris is one of the most loving, kind, caring, supportive people I've known in my life. She was our Girl Scout troop leader growing up. She taught us camping, cooking on an open fire, music, horseback riding. I've had the blessing of knowing her since I was in 2nd grade. When life was hard, she was always there for me. We will miss her so much. We find comfort in knowing that she lived life to its fullest and was having a great time all the way through to her last moments. She has a wonderful group of family and friends that enriched her life and for whom she brought a lot of joy.
