A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the age of 71. He was a resident of Gonzales and native of Lake Charles. David was a retired pipefitter with the Local 198, which he loved and supported whole heartedly. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Marines. His stories and wise cracks made him a joy to be around and the life of a telemarketer was not an easy one when he answered the phone. David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nona Bonneval Moody; daughters, Leslie Bunyett and husband, Darrin Bunyett and Laura Moody Bourgeois and her husband, Jeffery; son, David C. Moody and wife, Loretta; two brothers, Henry Moody and Danny Moody; nine grandchildren, Morgan, Celeste, and Allen David Moody, Luke Bunyett, Vivian Moody, Annalise Bunyett, Matthew Bourgeois, Eli Bunyett, and Benjamin Bourgeois. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.S. Moody and Sadie Schexnayder Moody; and a brother, James Moody. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Thursday, September 26 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visiting will resume on Friday at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Eric, Matthew, Jim, and Allen David Moody, Harold Sheets, and Mike Hicks. David loved traveling, taking cruises, listening to Swamp Pop, good food and good times. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His jokes and outrageous sense of humor was truly memorable and he will be truly missed.
