Born September 13, 1926 in Fayette, MS, and a resident of Wilson, LA since 1957, he went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the age of 86. He was a longtime member of the Wilson Community Church and a Presbyterian by faith. During his life, he was a cattle farmer, an electrician, and a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the US Army from 1949-1953, until his honorable discharge as a sergeant. He is survived by four daughters: Peggy Wilson; Sandra Wilson Carruth and her husband Willie; Meg Wilson Lee and her husband Gerald; Andrea Wilson Dours and her husband Jay; son-in-law James Lynn Newman; grandchildren Rebecca Newman Kelley and her husband Brent; Jamie Kay Newman Sander and her husband Tim; Robin Carruth; Deidra Carruth Dukes and her husband Eric; Daniel Carruth and his wife Amber; Kristen Carruth; Tyler, Jacob, and Jared Lee; Emily Wilson; Hannah, Lucien Jr., and Ashton Dours. He was the proud great-grandfather of Danielle Kelley; Alyssa Carruth; Austin Payne; Lila and Aiden Carruth; Seth Carruth and Kylee and Kaden Dukes. Also survived by his brother Jewel Wilson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine C. Wilson; his daughter Debbie Wilson Newman; granddaughter Joanna Dee Newman; parents Duncan and Katy Wilson; brothers Donald, Allie, and Roy Wilson; sister Mary Wilson Smith. Visitation will be Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Wilson Community Church from 10am until funeral services at 12 Noon, conducted by Rev. Darwin Hall. Burial will follow in Eastern Star Cemetery in Wilson. Pallbearers will be David Wilson, Daniel Carruth, Gerald Lee, Jay Dours, Scottie Wilson, Keith Cunningham, Kerwin Ross, and Glen Poche. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Joanna Dee Newman Nursing Scholarship at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Development Foundation, SLU 10450, Hammond, LA, 70402.
