Mr. Rapier died April 18, 2013 while living Metairie at the age of 85. He was born in Mobile, Ala. and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was married to the late Marilyn Renee Michinard. He is survived by his wife, Celesta June Smythe-Rapier, and his four children, Marilyn R. Levert (Edward "Weese"), Edward S. Rapier, Jr (Lisa), Richard G. Rapier, and Paula R. Kepper (David). Also he is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Edward and Corinne Rapier; Hannah and Lauren Rapier; Renee, Edward and Michael Levert; David, Paul, Andrew, Mathilde, Joseph and Marcelle Kepper. He was the son of the late George Senec Rapier and the late Zema Unruh Rapier and the brother of the late Capt. George E. Rapier (USNR Ret.). Ned was active in many Carnival organizations and in the 1970's he was active with the Holy Name of Jesus Dad's Club and Boy Scout Troop 55. He enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and visiting with friends and family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124), on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
