A resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 82, a native of Jacoby and attended schools in the Pointe Coupee Parish school system. Mr. Rattle retired as a supervisor from LSU after 23 years of service. He was an avid LSU fan. He was born December 17, 1930. After accepting Christ at an early age, he was baptized by the late Rev. He sang and traveled all over the United States with both groups, and they were heard each Sunday morning on WXOK for many years. In 1997, Mr. Rattle received a Certificate of Appreciation from the State of Louisiana, Office of the Metropolitan Council, City of Baton Rouge, for providing spiritual services while he was a member of the Southern Kings. Survived by his devoted wife of more than 60 years and the love of his life, Yvonne Lacy Rattle. Together, they had four children: two daugthers, Glenda Rattle Deloach (Eddie) of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Rhonda Ann Rattle, of Baton Rouge; and two sons, Ernest Rattle Jr. (Joyce), of Baton Rouge, and Alvin Rattle (Cassandra) of Port Allen. In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Rattle was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Lazandra Singleton, Derrick (Stacy) Moore, Sharhonda Deloach (Tamron) Price, Travis (Sajata) Rattle, Kimberleigh Rattle, Ernest Rattle III, Justin Deloach, Alvin Jamal Rattle, Alvin Jerome Rattle Jr. and Melissa Thornton; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Ella Mae Carter, Gladys (Samuel Sr.) Mason, Eddie and Ethel Lacy, Edward Lacy (Debra Mills), Beulah Mae Lacy, Elaine Lacy and Irene Lacy; and godchildren, Karen Lacy, of Batchelor, and Charlene Mason Collins, of Baton Rouge.
