Funeral services for Mr. Francis "Uncle Boy" M. Abbott, 82, will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the chapel of Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 1pm until time of service. He was born on April 12, 1931, in Maringouin, to the union of Byron and Marietta Pourciau Abbott and departed this life on Sunday morning, September 1, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, retired from Exxon and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. His passion was animal rescue. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and his son, Francis "Peanut" M. Abbott Jr. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Julie Varnado Abbott; a daughter, Mickie Lilly; sisters, Patricia Lanier and Gerry Butcher; special great-granddaughter, Cheyenne "Bowdie" Lilly; and canine companions, BB and Freckles. He was also survived by five grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-greagrandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and 18 foster dogs.
